Many studies have confirmed that organochlorine and pyrethroid pesticides can affect the body’s calcium transport system, calcium concentration and related enzymes, while in vivo calcium transport, changes in calcium concentration and related enzyme regulation are regulated by calmodulin. In order to investigate whether these pesticides act directly or through calmodulin, the authors investigated the effect of DDT and four pyrethroid pesticides on the phosphodiesterase-calmodulin system in bovine heart.
