This article (The Magic World of Hans Anderson) is from the December 1977 issue of the National Geographic magazine. Author Harvey Arden is an editor for the journal. In this essay, the author describes the narratives so that the past, the reality and the illusion may appear alternately and reflect each other. In this article, both the poetic depiction of the local customs and practices of Hans Christian Andersen and the lyrical comments on Andersen’s fairytale writing background are interspersed with memories and dreams of the world famous writer. The article takes Andersen’s creative activities and content as the main clues, often quoting Andersen’s works directly to describe the Danish scenery, rich and colorful historical materials, narrative touching, not only is a novel written travelogue, but also to our understanding and appreciation of Andersen is Helpful, it is worth learning from. The illustrations in the text “trampled on” is an Andersen’s paper-cut works whose image was a harlequin Pirogue, which was common on stage.
