OBJECTIVE: To study the infection of limbs in young patients with elastic fracture after nailing, and to provide a theoretical reference for its clinical treatment. Methods: A total of 35 patients treated with elastic intramedullary nailing in our hospital from February 2015 to February 2016 were selected as observation group and 35 patients underwent traditional open reduction and internal fixation as control group. Postoperative infection, serum levels of inflammatory cytokines, joint and limb mobility and functional status were compared between the two groups. Results: The infection rate in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P <0.05). The serum levels of IL-8, IL-6 and TNF-α in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The Harris score , HSS score and Broberg-Morrey score were higher than those in control group. The activity of patients in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.05). Conclusion: The clinical use of elastic intramedullary nails can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative infection, relieve the level of inflammatory response, improve joint activity and improve joint function.
