Alice Walker is a famous Afro-American female writer and feminist promoter. Much of his work is devoted to women’s liberation and racial equality, with a particular focus on the viability of black women. “Purple” is its representative, she won the Pulitzer Prize based on this novel. “Purple” covers not only gender discrimination and ethnic issues but also feminism. In order to distinguish it from other feminist theories, Walker created the term “women’s doctrine” and embodied it in “Purple”. This paper analyzes the “womanism ” reflected in “Purple”: It is the basic idea of Walker’s womanism by promoting the unity of black women, giving play to the tradition of womenism and relying on the power of women’s allies to accomplish self-salvation and liberation At the same time, it also emphasized the growth and development of men and committed themselves to establishing an equal and harmonious relationship between men and women. This is the true meaning of Walker ’s “Women ’ s”.
