太平洋战争期间的美国中国学家是异常忙碌的一个群体,他们或到情报机构等政府部门服务,或在高校帮助政府实施各种短期培训计划,或撰写旨在提高美国民众对远东及东亚战争理解的战时出版物,或从事中国问题的研究。中国学家在战争期间的这些经历,极大地影响了他们战后的中国研究和教学。具体表现在:跨学科合作的研究方法、研究重点偏向于现当代中国以及汉语教学等。
American Chinese scientists during the war in the Pacific are an unusually busy group of people who serve government agencies such as intelligence agencies or help the government implement various short-term training programs at universities or write articles aimed at raising the American public’s understanding of the Far East and East Asian wars Wartime publications or research on China issues. These experiences of Chinese scholars during the war greatly affected their post-war Chinese studies and teaching. Specifically: Interdisciplinary research methods, research emphasis on contemporary China and Chinese teaching.
