把符号作为一门独立的学科来研究,始于索绪尔符号学思想。后来其研究对象逐渐从语言符号扩展到了服装、电影、身势语等。能指的范围也不再局限于索绪尔的音响形象,而是扩展到了语言之外的各种实体。花卉在人类心目中总是被赋予一种象征意义,成为人们表情达意的工具。从符号学的角度分析,花卉及其象征意义分别是一种能指和所指,其组合具有符号的一般特征,因此花卉可以被视为一种符号,而花语也就是一个符号系统,有着它独特的意义潜势,花卉符号的价值也在横组合纵聚合关系中得以体现。
The study of symbols as an independent discipline begins with Saussure’s semiotics. Later, his research object gradually extended from the linguistic symbols to clothing, movies, body language and so on.
