被称为“东方莎士比亚”的明代戏曲作家汤显祖曾说:“一生四梦,得意处惟在牡丹。”《牡丹亭》用传奇置换的梦境将不可言说的人性本欲显现出来,并通过梅和柳等象征性意象间接地流露出男女主人公执着于生命本真的受压抑的性欲望。从精神分析理论的角度来解读主人公柳梦梅的潜意识欲望,能给我们一个全新解读人性内在的潜意识心理愿望,从而审视以柳梦梅为代表普遍的男性深层的内心世界,借助柳梦梅之梦来抒发当时社会男性的共同欲求。
