After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang government continued to implement a unified system of compulsory censorship across the country. Its content, system and mode of operation were basically the same as those before the war, but there were also some changes. Under the tempest of political relaxation that once appeared after the war, the Kuomintang’s insistence on censorship of movies remained somewhat diminished. This shows that the Kuomintang regime has given special attention and treatment to the popular art form with a wide influence such as the film. After the war, the Kuomintang government’s film inspection authorities stepped up the examination of the film on the reality theme and showed that the film has suppressed the real face of social life, either as an instinctive reaction to the Kuomintang regime’s face of its ruling crisis. As a result of the end of the Kuomintang regime’s rule on the mainland, a censorship system as an integral part of the Kuomintang rule also died down.
