Objective: To investigate the visual acuity of diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients suffering from diabetic nephropathy in Beixinjing street of Shanghai, and to provide data for improving the possibility of controlling DR in diabetic patients in this area. Methods: Data of 623 residents with diabetes were obtained according to the residents’ health records. Fundus photography was used to establish DR diagnosis. Check your eyesight for daily life and pinhole eyesight. Eyesight grading adopts WHO standards. Results: The actual examination of 535 cases, the detection rate was 90.68%. A total of 146 cases of DR patients diagnosed. The prevalence of visual acuity <0.3 was 17.57% in the general diabetic population, and 25.82% in the DR with visual acuity <0.3. In proliferating DR eyes, 12 eyes with low vision and 14 eyes with blindness accounted for 52.2% and 60.9% respectively, with a lower visual acuity than patients with simple DR. Conclusion: Among diabetic residents, DR severely compromised vision. Close monitoring of high-risk DM residents to control DR prevalence.
