At present, the spread of the Internet is increasingly far-reaching and extensive, and its impact on the society is also growing. Ronda Hauben, a Columbia University researcher (husband Jay Hauben and son Michael Hauben) are Internet history experts. In the early 1990s, Ronda and Michael began to study the history of news networks and the Internet and their social impact. Michael was also the inventor of the word “netizen”. In 1994, they released their research Huicheng monograph online, which was officially published in 1997 under the title “Internet users: the history and influence of news networks and the Internet.” This article is based on comments made by Ronda at a Tunis phase of the WSIS in 2005, which Jay believes is a good reflection of their work and is especially recommended.
