为了清理汉字从甲骨文到楷书传承演变的历史轨迹，必须对同一个单字在甲骨文、金文、小篆、隶书和楷书等不同历史时期、不同构形系统中的形体进行历时认同。对汉字单字进行历时认同，应该兼顾形体传承和职能这两个原则而以形体传承原则为中心。根据形体传承原则进行历时认同的方法，可以总结出四条基本规律。
In order to clear the historical trajectory of the evolution of the Chinese characters from the Oracle to the regular script, it is necessary to recognize the identities of the same word in the different historical periods and different formative systems such as Oracle, Jinwen, Xiaozhuan, Lishu and regular script. The diachronic identification of Chinese characters should take into consideration the two principles of the inheritance and function of the form and take the principle of the form inheritance as the center. According to the principle of inheritance of the diachronic identification method, we can sum up the four basic laws.
