Objective: To study the effect of telephone follow-up education on secondary prevention compliance after ischemic stroke patients discharged from hospital. Methods: A total of 84 patients with ischemic stroke were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group, with 42 cases in each group. The control group was routinely enrolled in the health education of cerebrovascular disease during hospitalization and before discharge. The research group developed individualized health education content and missionary education. Telephone follow-up education was conducted once a month within 1 year after discharge and telephone answering questions in time. Results: One year after discharge, the effective telephone answering questionnaire was 78 in both groups, 38 in the study group and 40 in the control group. The follow-up success rate was 92.9%. The secondary prevention compliance of the study group was significantly better than that of the control one year after discharge Group (P <0.05). The incidence of adverse events (recurrent stroke and death) within 1 year after discharge was significantly lower than that of the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Telephone follow-up education improves secondary prevention in patients with ischemic stroke and thus reduces the risk of recurrent and fatal stroke.
