The serum molybdenum and other trace elements and magnesium were measured in 26 patients with esophageal carcinoma by high-frequency plasma emission spectrometry. And compared with 13 healthy people. The results showed that molybdenum in the esophageal cancer group (x±SD=0.64±0.55 μmol/L) was significantly lower than the control group (x±SD=1.19±0.55 μmol/L), P<0.01; zinc (x±SD=15.71±8.16μmol/L) was also lower than the control group (x±SD=20.94±6.31μmol/L), P<0.05; magnesium (x±SD=927. 41±271.88μmol/L) was lower than the control group (x±SD=1050.84±96.74μmol/L), P<0.05. It suggests that the lack of molybdenum, zinc and magnesium is related to the occurrence of esophageal cancer.
