The issue of donor age in penetrating keratoplasty has been controversial. Many surgeons emphasize the donor age below 60 years of age, and some even refuse donor corneal materials over the age of 50. Since about one-third of all donor eyes are derived from patients over the age of 60, it is important to determine whether there is an age-free donor. To reduce many of the factors that may affect corneal transplant outcomes, the authors selected patients with keratoconus to conduct the following examinations: Thinning of the implant curve: Fifty-two patients with keratoconus were examined within a week after keratoplasty. Results Thirty-two patients with donor material under the age of 50 (45 years of age) and 20 patients who received donor material over the age of 50 (mean, 67 years) were thinner
