近期,Y.K.Bae公司宣布,其“光子激光推进器”(PLT)有史以来第一次仅使用激光就成功加速了一个重450 g的航天器模型。该项目由NASA“创新先进概念”(NIAC)第二阶段项目资助。此次试验在1000级洁净室中进行,光子功率被放大400倍,使光子在两个激光反射镜之间反弹数百次,以实现1.1 m N的光子推力。这种放大的推力成功推动一个滑翔平台沿着一条2 m长的无摩擦气垫轨道移动,模拟了零重力环境。
Recently, Y. K. Bae announced that its first “Photon Laser Thruster” (PLT) had successfully accelerated a model of a heavy 450 g spacecraft for the first time in history. The project is funded by the second phase of NASA’s Advanced Innovative Concepts (NIAC) project. The test was conducted in a Class 1000 clean room and the photon power was magnified 400 times to cause the photons to bounce hundreds of times between the two laser mirrors to achieve a photon thrust of 1.1 mN. This magnified thrust successfully propelled a gliding platform along a 2 m long frictionless cushion track, simulating a zero-gravity environment.
