“于新城、长水之后别续一灯”是对厉鹗诗学地位的重要评价。然而结合整个诗坛环境的影响,可以发现厉鹗并未完全脱离与新城、长水的联系。厉鹗的诗歌理论在某些程度上与王渔洋“神韵”说有契合之处,他尤其以自己“尚清”的创作实践为“神韵”诗风披上了一层“寒者之衣”。对于朱彝尊,厉鹗更直接从醇雅与博学两方面进行学习。这是其“别续一灯”的准确内涵。对不同诗学观变相继承的态度,是厉鹗诗歌自名一家的关键,也展现出清代诗史发展的连贯性。
