锦标赛模型认为企业内工资差距对企业生产率有提升作用,而公平模型对此的认识相反。以世界银行和国家统计局联合采集的投资气象调查数据为分析基础,发现中国制造业企业内普通员工之间以及层级之间工资差距的增大对企业生产率有着显著的促进作用,这一发现符合锦标赛模型的预测。进一步的稳健性分析表明,工资差距对企业生产率的作用基本上是单调增加的,并且考虑了内生性问题的回归结果强化了从基本回归结果中得出的结论。采用不同企业生产率度量方式所得的估计结果也支持本文的基本结论。
The tournament model holds that the wage gap within an enterprise has an effect on the productivity of an enterprise, whereas the fairness model has the opposite view. Taking the investment meteorological survey data collected jointly by the World Bank and the National Bureau of Statistics as the basis for analysis, it was found that the increase of the wage gap among the general employees in the manufacturing enterprises in China and at different levels significantly promoted the productivity of the enterprises, which was in line with the findings Championship model predictions. Further robustness analysis shows that the effect of wage gap on firm productivity is basically monotonically increasing, and taking into account the regression of endogenous problems reinforces the conclusion drawn from the results of the basic regression. The estimates obtained from different measures of firm productivity also support the basic conclusions of this article.
