作为为公众提供公共文化服务的公共事业,公共图书馆在中国已经走过了半个多世纪。随着新媒体时代的到来,海量信息和人们阅读方式与习惯的改变,公众与公共图书馆之间的距离越来越遥远。公众自身对公共文化服务权益意识的淡薄和图书馆在定位认识与服务方向的偏差,是造成二者距离的重要因素。因此,公共图书馆有必要重新认识自我,适应形势,充分利用多种媒介,盘活馆藏资源,提升服务,加大外宣,真正成为为民提供公共文化服务的生力军。
As a public utility that provides public cultural services to the public, public libraries have traveled more than half a century in China. With the advent of the new media era, the vast amount of information and the changes in the way and habits of people reading, the distance between the public and public libraries is becoming increasingly distant. The public’s own weak awareness of rights and interests of public cultural services and the deviation of the library’s orientation and service orientation are the important factors that cause the distance between the two. Therefore, it is necessary for public libraries to re-recognize themselves, adapt to the situation, make full use of a variety of media, revitalize the resources of their collections, enhance their services, and increase their outreach so that they can truly become the new force in providing public cultural services to the public.
