朱庸斋先生是一位純粹的詞人。青年時遭逢喪亂,所爲詞多鄉國淪亡的悲感。筆觸細致,意象淒迷。上世紀六十年代中葉以後,先生詞益精神細密,並鼓勵門人堅持寫作,使得詞學一脈在廣東延續。一九七八年後,先生積極參與社會活動,亦有清新明快之作。其詞早年富麗精妍,中年以後轉爲渾融隱秀,兼有情致氣格之妙,博採家長,自出機杼,已被詞壇公認爲陳洵之後廣東第一大家;與龍、唐、夏並列爲二十世紀之四大家,亦當之無愧。在藝術技巧方面,先生首重‘體格’,主張‘學古’,渾成之外,進而追求神致。創作須精益求精,力求警策。尤善於言情,深情苦語,足可拔幟自成一隊。先生詠物之作,體物入微,且情景交融。亦有音樂性特强之特點,與廣府吟誦相應。 Mr. Zhu Yongzhai is a pure poet.
