《义务教育常用词表(草案)》的研制有助于加强义务教育阶段语文教学的科学性,为中小学语文教学提供有用的学习资源,为语文教育政策的制定提供科学依据。词表共收词14323条,根据学习的难易度将所有词分为四级,对应小学至初中的四个学段。主表为《音序表》,带有拼音、词性、词级等信息。附表是《义序表》,收录义项17469个,参照《现代汉语分类词典》按词义的相同相近或相对关系就近排列。词表研制依据中小学生的认知特点及词汇学习规律,突出了面向母语学习者的基础教育词表这一根本性质,体现了词表的“书面语词汇系统的学习”“对母语社会的认知”“反映词汇的习得规律”三大功能。在使用频率、语境分布的基础上,着重融入了语义分布、相对词频、位序法的使用。
