The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the independent award of the 2014 Nobel Prize for Economics to the French economist Professor Jean Tirole of the Toulouse Economic School in recognition of his “insight into market forces and rules.” However, its academic contribution goes far beyond regulation, which has unified the framework of industrial organization and regulatory economic analysis with modern economic methods. Jean Tirole’s contributions to contemporary economics actually span three levels: one is to promote the development of game theory itself; the other is to theoretically make the assumptions of the study more realistic and establish a unified Of the research paradigm; the third is through the application of case studies of specific industries so that theoretical analysis can be used directly in the policy-making process. On the basis of reviewing the most representative works such as “Industrial Organization Theory” and “Incentive Theory in Government Procurement Regulation”, this article conducts an in-depth analysis and an objective review of these three aspects of content and logic.
