“后教学法”是20世纪中后期以来西方外语教学研究中出现的超越传统“教学法”概念的新思想。作为一种新思想,它并没有简单地否定传统教学法,而是在学习、分析和深入研究传统教学法基础上创新了传统教学法。它的重大贡献就在于突破了传统教学法的思维局限,把教学经验系统化,使之上升为理论,并重新定义了教师、学习者和教师教育者在外语教学中的作用。
“Post Teaching Method ” is a new thought which surpasses the traditional concept of “pedagogy ” appearing in Western foreign language teaching research since the middle and late 20th century. As a new idea, it does not simply negate the traditional teaching method, but innovates the traditional teaching method based on the study, analysis and further study of the traditional teaching method. Its major contribution lies in breaking through the limitation of thinking in traditional teaching methods, systematizing the teaching experience, elevating it to a theory, and redefining the role of teachers, learners and teacher educators in foreign language teaching.
