Advances in information and communications technology have resulted in improved documentation. For example, most contracting agencies now use personal computers and word processing software to prepare contract documents, letters, and supporting documents. Many organizations also use fax machines to speed up the exchange of purchase and supply information. Another automated tool called electronic data interchange (EDI) can now be used to reduce your workload. Since the end of the 1980s, EDI has been applied in some government agencies. Their experience shows that very few purchasing agencies will be required to handle the same purchase. In addition, EDI purchase technology has also proved its advantage in seeking new resources to strengthen competition, in order to improve the quality of products and services and reduce the price of products. Companies like to use EDI to analyze their purchase transaction statistics, the characteristics of goods and services, and the type and number of suppliers, and determine which purchases have the largest EDI capabilities, but not all purchases are suitable for EDI. What is EDI? EDI is a standard transaction that obtains mutual consent and realizes regular business documents
