远在两千年前,我们的祖先就发现“种豆肥田”的事实;但不懂得其中的科学道理。直到19世纪中叶,法国学者辛格鲁特在其无数次试验中证明:豆科作物具有从空气中汲取氮素养料的能力。后来,又有科学家发现在豆科作物的根部生长着无数小瘤,小瘤内含有特殊催化能力的固氮酶,能从大气中固定氮素为植物体所用。从此,根瘤、根瘤菌便逐渐被人们所重视。
As far back as two thousand years ago, our ancestors discovered the facts of “growing beans and fields”; but they did not understand the scientific truths. Until the mid-19th century, the French scholar Singh Rut proved in countless experiments that leguminous crops had the capacity to extract nitrogenous nutrients from the air. Later, another scientist found numerous legumes grow in the root of leguminous crops, nodules contain a special catalytic capacity of nitrogenase, nitrogen can be fixed from the atmosphere for the plant. Since then, nodules, rhizobia will gradually be valued.
