The drought resistance appraisal of plants has long attracted the attention of many researchers. Most of the workers on this issue used to pay special attention to finding the morphological, anatomical or physiological features that are associated with the plant’s high drought resistance. That is, they are trying to find an indirect sign of drought resistance, but they are not getting satisfactory results because the true understanding of the phenomenon must be based on the causal relationship rather than on the related linkages.
