青藏高原是世界上海拔最高的高原,地理位置独特,自然环境恶劣,地质条件复杂,素有“世界屋脊”、“地球第三极”之称。青藏铁路格尔木至拉萨段全长1118公里,通过546公里多年冻土地段,线路海拔高于4000米的地段约960公里,线路最高海拔为5072米。是世界上海拔最高的铁路。高原缺氧、冻土和环保问题是青藏铁路建设中的三大难题,其特殊性和复杂性在世界上独一无二。
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the highest plateau in the world with unique geographical location, harsh natural environment and complicated geological conditions. It is known as the roof of the world and the third pole of the earth. The Golmud-Lhasa section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is 1118 kilometers long and passes through a permafrost area of 546 kilometers with an elevation of about 960 kilometers at an altitude of more than 4000 meters. The highest elevation of the line is 5072 meters. It is the highest railway in the world. Plateau anoxic, permafrost and environmental issues are the three major problems in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, its uniqueness and complexity in the world unique.
