在中国现当代文学中,“颓废”一直是一个备受争议的词语,很少有作家心甘情愿被扣上颓废主义者的帽子。“颓废”一词虽是从西方传入中国的,但其内涵意义的历史,范围却远比词语本身出现的时间地点久远,广泛的多。它是一种普遍而恒久存在的精神现象。郁达夫是中国现当代文学中被公认的典型的颓废作家,然而,作者以为,他的“颓废”并非真正意义上的颓废,“颓废”在他那里也只是一个在特定的社会现实和作者审美情趣相结合的产物,从某种意义上说这已经偏离了西方唯美——颓废主义的真正精神。
In Chinese modern and contemporary literature, “decadent” has always been a controversial term. Few writers are willing to be labeled as degenerate.
