On May 31st this year, Sasol Company, South Africa’s leading coal-based synthetic fuel company, announced that it will stop using raw coal at its synthesis plant in Sasol-burg in the next three years and switch to natural gas as a raw material for the synthesis of fuel and chemical products. Sasol is the world’s largest producer of synthetic fuels and chemical products using raw coal as raw materials. It consumes 45.9 million tons of low-quality coal annually.
