When I first set off to explore the online world, I felt as if I were moving to the size of a new plot of land. But as I wrote this essay, my purpose - to make certainty of the planner’s online chances blurred - is that online services and systems are growing so fast that it is almost impossible to catch them. But it is certain that planners are using computers extensively and are greatly affected by the new things happening online. According to a 1994 Survey reading survey, more than 85 percent of APA members use computers at work and 20 percent use online services. It’s still changing, says Perry Norton, a former planner with the American Society for Planning and Adjudication Board and a licensed planner with 12 years of on-line experience, adding that the newsletter “is exploding and definitely exploding.” In 1993, The United States Association of Chartists held a national conference in Chicago, only one meeting is related to the line. This year’s conference in Toronto has a total of eight meetings in this area, attracting more than 100 participants each time. Norton said “There are a lot of changes, planners are watching, reading and engaging.”
