沙棘的果实自古就被西伯利亚的居民重视和利用。十八世纪,鞑靼人等已把沙棘果实大量用于食品,制成果膏、果子酱,并用乳状或乳块状制品上席,作为隆重的佳馔。《俄罗斯漫谈》一书中就有关于人们用沙棘待客的描述——“通古期人贫穷,但诚实而好客,情愿尽其所有和人共享,供其软床,供其精选的沙棘浆果”。在十九世纪,沙棘果则以半冻状态用于食品,熬成芳香的胶质果冻、较稀的果酱和果泥,但主要还是用来造酒,特别是造芳香的果实酒。这种酒具有给人以快感的凤梨风
The fruit of seabuckthorn has been valued and used by the inhabitants of Siberia since ancient times.
