Mosaicism occurs in most founder gene-modified monkeys generated by virus infection and programmable-nucleases[1-3].In addition,macaque monkeys have a long preadolescence period,with four or more years usually required for male macaque monkeys to become sex-ually mature[4,5].The mosaicism and long time to sexual maturity have largely prevented wide usage of gene-modified monkey models.
