To investigate the relative relationship between colorectal cancer and diabetes mellitus and the importance of perioperative management, the preoperative fasting blood glucose of 92 patients with colorectal cancer and 60 patients with non-gastrointestinal cancer was compared, and 90 patients with large intestine undergoing surgical treatment were compared. Postoperative complications of cancer patients were observed to study the incidence of diabetes in patients with colorectal cancer and its relationship with postoperative complications. The results showed that 11 out of 92 patients with colorectal cancer met the diagnosis of diabetes, and the prevalence of diabetes was 11.96%, which was very significant compared with the control group and the overall incidence of diabetes in China. The incidence of diabetes in patients older than 60 years old with colorectal cancer was significantly higher than those under 60 years of age, and the incidence of postoperative complications in patients with colorectal cancer complicated by diabetes was significantly higher than that in patients without colorectal cancer. It is suggested that patients with colorectal cancer, especially elderly patients with colorectal cancer, tend to have high prevalence of diabetes, and should be actively treated during the perioperative period to reduce postoperative complications.
