微量稀土元素添加在铝合金中,对铝合金有很好的变质作用,能细化晶粒、改善工艺性能、机械性能、铝材的着色性能和耐蚀性能.因此,稀土元素在铝合金中日益获得广泛应用.但用户在应用时都要添加稀土金属或稀土铝合金.这些稀土金属和稀土铝合金不但价格高,而且生产厂家要耗费大量能源,用户也不方便. 中国科学院应用化学研究所和江苏省江都县稀土材料厂共同研制的稀土长效变质精炼剂改变了上述传统方法.其原理是:选择适当的化学成分,把稀土化合物添加在铝合金常用的覆盖剂中,在铝合金熔炼过程中,通过液态铝将稀土化合物还原成稀土金属进入铝液中,既可起覆盖作用,又可起变质作用,同时还起精炼作用.这样,铝合金熔化过程中传统工艺流程所需要的覆盖剂、精炼剂、变质剂由稀土长效变质精炼剂所代替,简化了稀土元素在铝合金中的应用流程.
