Objective: To investigate the protective effects of aprotinin on liver ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. Methods: Forty-eight Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group, ischemia-reperfusion group and prophylactic aprotinin group. The levels of ALT, MDA, Changes of SOD and Pathological Changes of Liver Tissues. Results: The serum levels of ALT and liver MDA in aprotinin group were significantly lower than those in ischemia-reperfusion group (P <0.01), while the levels of SOD in liver tissue were higher than those in ischemia-reperfusion group (P <0.01) Aberrant cell morphological changes than ischemia-reperfusion group also significantly reduced. Conclusion: Aprotinin can protect rat liver against ischemia-reperfusion injury.
