17世纪荷兰首批访京使团管事约翰·尼霍夫所著的《荷使初访中国记》及其在书中绘制的大量画稿,让西方人第一次直观地了解到了充满神秘色彩的东方大国,成为西方了解中国的重要材料。本文将主要介绍其关于广州的画作,如广州城全景图、珠江上的水上要塞及广州牌楼等,并对这批画作所反映的历史及当时广州城的概况做初步的分析和研究。这批画作不仅对了解和认识17世纪中荷关系及广州城市史具有较高的史料价值,还充分地反映了广州作为当时满清皇朝唯一对外贸易口岸在海上贸易中的重要地位与作用。
