从1978年恢复高考以来,中国的大学教育已经蓬勃发展起来,近些年,随着生源增加,大学扩招,各类职业院校也扩大了办学规模,大学教育已经从精英教育转化为了大众教育,大学生也从原来的凤毛麟角变成了多如牛毛。普通高等学校录取的大学生多了,高职院校能够录入的学生学习基础就更加薄弱了,而高职学生普遍存在英语基础差,学习兴趣不浓的情况,在这种情况下,高职公共英语采用分层次教学并在教学中构建学生为主体的课堂尤为重要。
