Objectives: To understand fertility and ART perceptions of infertile couples receiving assisted reproductive technology (ART). Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted on both ART and ART couples. Questionnaire content involves both the basic situation of the couple, the situation of infertility, the concept of fertility and ART. Results: A total of 866 questionnaires were distributed, 866 questionnaires were reclaimed and 837 valid questionnaires were collected. 410 pairs of infertile couples. The average duration of infertility was 4.5 ± 2.9 years, of which 57.7% came from cities and 42.3% from rural areas. Urban residents older than rural residents. 18.3% of the respondents had a history of contraception, contraceptive prevalence among urban residents was higher than that of rural residents (30.4% vs 6.7%), and work-related factors were the major causes of contraception. The main reason for wanting to have children is to love children (51.4%), while only 6.8% of patients think it is due to family and social pressure. Only 15.9% of those surveyed preferred ART when they learned of infertility; urban residents were more worried about ART than rural residents (31.9% vs 17.8%, P <0.05); women were more likely than men More concerned about their own influence (P <0.05). While more than half of the respondents think they will not tell others around themselves to accept ART, nearly 50% of the respondents are uncertain about whether to tell their offspring ART children. The same couple has over 50% consistency in choosing to address infertility measures and informing the people around them, and is less coherent in informing the offspring. CONCLUSIONS: The purpose of fertility couples’ infertility is mainly for children’s love, however, ART remains cautious.
