  Last summer, I decided my impend-ing move to Beijing should coincide with a shift in emphasis to health. Gone would be the all-night par-des of my previous life in central Europe; in would come morn trips to the gym and may-be a half-marathon or two. It is something of an irony then that this lifestyle shift left me requiting a stint in a Chinese hospital. One month into my stay here, I over-exerted on some weights and caused myself a hernia.
