叶子是光合作用的主要器官,叶量的多少与有机物的贮藏和积累有密切的关系,因此保持适当的叶面积,对促进林木的生长,提高单位面积上木材的产量有极其重要的意义。林木群体叶面积的大小是以叶面积系数来表示的。叶面积系数是指叶面积与土地面积的比值。林木的生长量在一定的范围内,随着叶面积系数的加大而增加,超过这个范围,反而会降低。同时,叶面积系数是林业科研中一个不可忽视的内容,因此,如何测定叶面积系数,就显得非常重要。
