Since the 19th century, with the constant expansion of the exchanges between Eastern and Western art, the aesthetic styles of the different systems of Chinese and Western art have converged in the process of mutual infiltration and symbiosis. This is mainly manifested in the three major trends of westernization of Chinese painting, nationalization of Chinese oil painting, and orientalization of western oil painting. At the same time of the docking and mutual melting of Chinese and Western art practice, the comparative study of Chinese and Western art has come into being as well. The contradiction between globalization and localization is also unavoidable, which is also reflected in the eyes of Chinese people in Western art and Westerners There is a huge difference between the oriental art, the vision of the other who has a positive value for the study of the artistic characteristics of China and the West. In this issue, we discuss the exchange of Chinese and Western art and hope to reflect on the latest state of the East-West artistic relationship in the 21st century.
