意蕴是盆景艺术作品的精神内核,风景形象则是意蕴的载体。清人方薰在《山静居画论》中云:“作画必先立意以定位置:意奇则奇,意高则高,意远则远,意深则深,意古则古,庸则庸,俗则俗也。”此对各类艺术创作中的立意都有普遍的指导意义。于是,诸多盆景刨作者都在“立意”上惨淡经营,以求作品产生独特的意蕴。首先,立意不应成为风景素材的被动衍生物,它应占据主宰地位。清人吴乔在《围炉诗话》中云:“意为主将,法为号令,字句为部曲兵卒。”盆景艺术的立意也同样具有“主将”的作用,没有立意或意蕴肤浅的作品是没有艺术生命力的。著名盆景艺术家潘仲连先生创作的《刘松年笔意》、《一介匹夫》等作品都具有较深刻的思想性和艺术感染力,何故?皆因他的作品中的立意居统帅地位,而且个性
