为读者服务是图书馆一切工作的宗旨。图书馆工作要有新开拓,就要深化为读者服务,深化服务就要研究读者需求。从广义上讲,读者不仅仅是到馆来的读者,而是泛指图书馆服务的整个对象——全社会有能力利用图书馆的人。在这个大范围内,可以分为:①当前读者(正在利用图书馆的);②潜在读者(有能力利用图书馆而尚未利用的);③当前需求(读者已表达出来的需求);④潜在需求(读者没有表达出来的)。
Service for readers is the purpose of all the work of the library. Library work to be a new pioneering, we must deepen the service for readers, deepen the service we must study the needs of readers. Broadly speaking, the reader is not merely a visitor to the library, but refers to the entire object of the library service - the people in the community who have the ability to use the library. In this broad context, it can be divided into: (i) the current reader (who is using the library); (ii) the potential reader (who has the ability to use the library); (iii) the current demand (what the reader has already expressed); Demand (the reader did not express it).
