立地等级的评价是制订合理经营措施,改善立地条件,提高林分生产力,研究林分生长以及制定森林调查规划的基础,因此我国目前大力进行地位指数表编制工作。近来编制的地位指数表大多数采用数式法。对其教学模型选择力求准确地反映树高生长过程,数学模型将决定地位指数表实用值和精确程度。地位指数曲线的数学模型的选择是视相关系数的大小,这是正确的。但是仅视相关系的大小是不够的。
