[Objective] To investigate the medicinal plant resources in Yuechengling area of Guangxi Province and study their sustainable utilization status. [Method] Through field survey, consulting references, market research and specimens identifying, the medicinal plants resources of Yuechenling area in Guangxi Province was preliminarily studied. [Result] Yuechengling area is rich in medicinal plants resources, including 201 families, 752 genus and 1424 species, among which there are 36 families, 61 genus and 106 species of pteridophyte, 7 families, 10 genus and 15 species of gymnosperm, 153 families, 673 genus and 1 285 species of angiosperm as well as 20 rare and endangered species. Based on the analysis of investigation, the medicinal plants were classified into 8 categories according to their medicinal parts and 17 categories according to their purpose; among which 10 species were characterized by large reserves and high utilization value. In terms of the current status of medicinal plant resources, some protection and development suggestions were put forward. [Conclusion] The study provided references for reasonable developing and protecting medicinal plant resources in Yuechengling area of Guangxi Province.
