[International Nuclear Project, February 1994, p. 2] According to the 1993 estimates of nuclear material handling of the Chernobyl accident, there are still 150 kg of plutonium and 45 tonnes of isotopes of uranium (including 430 kg of uranium - 235) whereabouts unknown. The treatment of all nuclear material at the NPP, including unused nuclear fuel, core nuclear material and spent fuel, during the nuclear accident has been assessed and its fate has been estimated over seven years. The details are as follows: Unused nuclear fuel The nuclear fuel storage area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant holds 36 nuclear fuel assemblies: These fuel assemblies are currently stored at the plant’s centralized storage area and will be disposed of. Approximately five nuclear fuel assemblies (containing 0.5 tons of uranium, 10)
