当代新文人画同传统扇面书画有着最直接和最明显的继承关系,他们在思想、艺术观念和创作方式上保持着一致性。纵览中国绘画发展史,历经漫长的选择进化,从唐工、宋巧到元的尚意以及明清的尚变而最终形成了以“文人画”为表率的高格艺术样式。而其中强调的“人格文品为先”的主旨是与当代新文人画一脉相承的。如今,“新文人画”已经成为一个大家所熟悉的名字,它代表了一种平和闲适的社会状态和文化取向,代表了一批中国画家在一定时代下对传统文化诸多基因在绘画上的继承,推动了当代中国文化的蓬勃发展。
