白云鄂博铁矿是包钢主要的铁矿石和稀土、铌原料生产基地。位于包头市区以北150km处。矿区东西长18km,南北宽1～3km,由主矿、东矿、西矿三大矿体组成。白云鄂博矿是世界罕见的以铁、铌、稀土为主的多元素共生矿床。其中铁矿石储量近14亿t,稀土储量居世界之冠,铌氧化物储量居世界第二位。1990年底全矿共有职工5555人,其中高、中级专业技术人员198人。下设采矿、运输、破碎等14个车间。主要生产设备有4～10m~3电铲29台,
Bayan Obo Iron ore is the main iron ore and Baotou Steel, niobium raw materials production base. Located in Baotou urban area 150km north.
