Objective: To investigate the value of umbilical artery blood gas analysis in the diagnosis of neonatal asphyxia. Methods: A total of 147 newborns were selected. Umbilical arterial blood gas analysis at birth and Apgar score at 1 min after birth were divided into group of ≥8, group of 4 to 7, and group of ≤3. Umbilical arterial blood gas data were analyzed by group. Results: The umbilical arterial blood pH, PO2, PCO2 and BE were significantly correlated with Apgar score. The differences were statistically significant in different score groups. The neonatal umbilical artery blood pH <7.20 and pH value> 7.25, There were significant differences among different rating groups. Conclusion: Umbilical arterial blood gas analysis is an objective and reliable test that can make up for the deficiency of traditional Apgar score and improve the diagnostic rate and cure rate of neonatal asphyxia.
