用湘棉 1 0号和显性无腺体品系中 5655杂交 ,再以湘棉 1 0号为母本与杂交后代连续回交 3次 ,再自交 3次 ,在 BC3F4 中发现一变异单株 ,其根、茎、叶上都有腺体 ,但种子中腺体稀少 ,通过继续自交和选择 ,于 1 995年育成湘棉 1 8号。湘棉 1 8号具有植株有腺体、种子低棉酚的特性。种子棉仁的棉酚含量为 0 .0 30 4 %。 1 997~ 1 999年参加湖南省棉花品种区试。皮棉产量 1 71 8.9kg· hm-2 ,比湘棉 1 0号常规品种对照增产 1 5.81 % ,比湘杂棉 1号杂交种对照增产 6.77% ,为对照湘杂棉 2号的92 .83%。抗性鉴定表明 ,该品种高抗枯萎、耐黄萎病。大面积试种未表现鼠害。

Gossypol content of seed cotton kernel was 0.304%. 1 997 ~ 1 999 to participate in Hunan Province cotton varieties regional test. The yield of lint cotton was 1 71 8.9 kg · hm-2, which increased by 15.81% compared with the conventional varieties of Xiangmian 10 and increased by 6.77% compared with the hybrids of Xiangzamian 1, which was 92.83% of the control Xiangzamian 2, . Resistance identification showed that the variety is highly resistant to wilt and Verticillium wilt. Large-scale test showed no rat damage.
