今天北京琉璃厂的旧址在辽代为“中都”东郊的海王村。元代在此地建琉璃窑厂,因有“琉璃厂”之称。明代琉璃窑规模扩大,大量窑工居此。清康熙年间逐渐形成居民区,一些小商贩摆摊经营商业,而每年一度的春节灯市也移至琉璃厂举行,是为琉璃厂厂甸集市和书肆的源始。清乾隆年间这里已形成以卖古籍碑帖、古玩字画、文房四宝等为主的商业街,有书肆三十余家,发展成为独具一格的文化街。所以琉
